Symptoms

When you install Swiff Point Player, you might get one of the following error messages:

C:\Windows\System32\GlobFX\swfmsoct.dll
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: DllRegisterServer failed; code 0x80040154.

or

C:\program files\globfx\swiff point player\swfmsoct.dll
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: DllRegisterServer failed; code 0x80040154.

Cause

For some strange reasons, the system file named ATL.dll may not be installed, or not registered on your Windows system.

Resolution

There are 2 methods to solve the problem, a simple solution that requires the use of a batch file and a more advanced one that requires the use of the command line.

1) With a batch file (easy)

1-   Download regAtlDll.bat

2- Run regAtlDll.bat by double clicking the file from the Windows Explorer.
A dialog box should appear displaying the following message: "DllRegisterServer in atl.dll succeeded."

3- Re-install Swiff Point Player.

2) With the command line (advanced)

To register the library ATL.dll, follow the steps bellow:

1- Open a command line window and type the following instructions to register the ATL.dll file:

cd C:\windows\system32

and type

regsvr32 atl.dll

2- Manually register the Swiff Point Player file swfmsoct.dll:

cd "C:\program files\globfx\swiff point player"

and type

regsvr32 swfmsoct.dll
