Symptoms

When you launch PowerPoint, the Swiff Point Player icons and menu items are no more available both in the "Insert" menu and in the "Standard Drawing" toolbar. Uninstalling/reinstalling the player does not solve the problem.

Cause

Swiff Point Player is PowerPoint Add-in. It is automatically executed at PowerPoint startup. If for any reason, Swiff Point Player has caused an error within a PowerPoint presentation, then PowerPoint will automatically disable the Swiff Point Player Add-in at startup. Therefore, the next time you will launch PowerPoint, the Swiff Point Player will not be executed, thus removing the icons and menus from the application.

Resolution

To re-activate Swiff Point Player, you need to clear the PowerPoint cache (the temporary files and folders stored by PowerPoint at runtime). To do so follow the steps below:

1- Make sure that you have the latest version of Swiff Point Player installed. If not, uninstall the currently installed version from your system.

2- Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp.

3- Select all the files and folders in this directory and delete them all. These are temporary files stored by various applications. In case an error message is displayed, close all your running apps and try again to delete theses files and folders. In particular, make sure that the folders VBE and PPT are deleted.

4- If necessary, try to re-install Swiff Point Player by downloading the latest version available from our website www.globfx.com/downloads/swfpoint/.
